Why not make churros when only half your class is present?!

Team Titan was on a field trip this morning, so with smaller numbers the fried dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar (known as churros) were plentiful in the Spanish classroom! One student even made one in the shape of a heart!

Queso

iBlock Spanish students learned how to make homemade queso this morning. The recipe we followed can be found here!

When Conga Lines Form in Class!

Who knew that listening to a song about weather expressions in Spanish could spark such enthusiasm! Enjoy!

Quizlet.live!

Students adore learning Spanish vocabulary with the tool Quizlet.live! Students are randomly placed in groups. Each student uses their Chromebook screens to determine who has the correct translation (in this case, weather expression). The catch is, only one student has the correct answer in the group so students must communicate the Spanish words to determine who it is. It is an awesome way to get them to use the language while having fun!

Dulce de Leche

Spanish iBlock students participate in a "Food Day Friday" each week where we explore different cultural foods. This week we tried Dulce de Leche, a popular Latin American sweet that is often compared to caramel. Dulce de Leche is easy to make as you can simple take cans of sweetened condensed milk and cook them (yes, the whole, unopened can!) in a crockpot filled with water on low for about 8 hours. When you open the can, the milk has cooked into a deliciously sweet treat that goes well with ice cream, makes a yummy dip for pretzels, or even as a dipping sauce for churros!
